Andy Sullivan is the lead for the next generation in the freight industry and has been bringing a decade experience into logistics! From the ground upwards, Sullivan initially worked to load cargo aircraft and to ensure the turnaround at Gatwick Airport.

Over the next decade, he gained valuable experience with Virgin Atlantic Cargo, while supporting key flight charges projects during the pandemic before going to roles at DHL and Cargonet. His successful start at Cargonet has since advanced Sullivan to become the sales manager, and has led the external sales team since April 2024. Sullivan now paves a new approach to the forwarding of wholesale.

How did you end up in air freight/logistics?

My father was in the Irish Air Force as part of the engineering and stock supplement team. Aviation has been part of my life for as long as I can. After completing my university courses, I didn’t think twice about getting a job at Gatwick Airport.

Which quote sounded to you most?

Hard choices, easy life. Easy choices, hard life.

What is the best advice you have ever received?

God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason. What is the most adventurous thing you have ever done? Something I would recommend to someone, sky heaven over the palm in Dubai. What hobby have you always wanted to try, but never got there? Scuba diving. If you did not pursue a career in aircraft, what other field would you have had? Military – especially RAF. What would it be if you could have any superpower? It has to fly.

What is your proudest moment and your greatest regret?

The proudest moment would buy my first property in southern England. Biggest regret, not traveling around the world in my late teens/early twenties.

If a movie was made about your life, who would you like to see the lead?

Ryan Gosling. If you look back on your career, what would your message be for someone who is considering a career in logistics? Try to start practically. You cannot really understand a product/ service/ supply chain until you live and breathe it every day.

How do you motivate your team?

Lead by example. Strive to be a role model. Prioritize coaching and feedback workshops. Listen to ideas and observations. Make sure everyone is aware of our performance and how we influenced the results.

What is the one item without which you cannot travel?

Golf clubs! What would you be called autobiography? Sometimes less is more!

Cats or dogs?

Dogs.

Early rise or night owl?

Early riser.

What is the best and worst purchase you have ever done?

Best Purchase: My first home. The worst purchase: $ 600 bottle of vodka in Las Vegas.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Omelet and avocado on sourdough toast! What is your most used emoji? Triangular eyes and a big smile face.
