Swissport International successfully started its land handling operations at Frankfurt Airport this weekend. To reveal its position on one of the largest aircraft buttons worldwide, Swissport will gradually grow its client base and workforce in the coming months.

Swissport International, the world leader in airport land services and air freight handling, has begun as a new land handler at Frankfurt Airport (FRA). Operations have been successfully kicked off to serve the early morning flights of KLM, Air France and Lot at Terminals 1 and 2. Frankfurt will soon become the largest field of Swissport in Germany and one of its most important operations in Europe.

Swissport started its land handling operations in Frankfurt with a competent team of more than 350 airport land service personnel. As the year passes, rented staff will join each month to accommodate new customers, peak traveling seasons around Easter and the summer holidays. Recruitment will also continue beyond the summer to prepare the takeover of the remaining flights of broad-body aircraft, which will be handled by a third-party provider during a transitional phase until October 31, 2025, which is temporarily signed under the land handling license of the Airport operator frapport.

In August 2024, Swissport granted the Land Handling License at the most important Center of Germany by the Ministry of Transport of the State Hesse State, to a competitive tender that included six bidders. The license, which has been valid for seven years, enables Swissport to provide land services to all carriers working at Frankfurt Airport. Swissport’s portfolio includes passenger services in check -in and gates, luggage handling, airplane and loading and downloading cargo.

Swissport has been active at Frankfurt Airport since 1995 with its cargo handling unit. In November 2020, the company opened a modern air freight warehouse, including a modern pharmaceutical center in Cargo City South. In addition, the subsidiary of Swiss Sports has been offering exemption services in Frankfurt since 1999, and its subsidiary has been providing fuel services in Frankfurt since 1988.
