FedEx expands UK capabilities with a new dedicated cargo facility at East Midlands Airport


  • Fedex introduced a new target -built cargo facility of 19,000 square meters at East Midlands airport, with the aim of strengthening its British and global network.

  • The site is independent of package operations, with a design focused on freight efficiency, streamlined processing and improved safety through built -in loading pits and various trailers.

Federal Express Corporation (FedEx), the world’s largest Express Transportation Company, today announces the opening of a new goal-built facility of 19,000 square meters to East Midlands Airport to further strengthen its British and international network.

The new facility works independently of the company’s existing parcel sorting operations and is designed to improve the efficiency of cargo handling, while customers offer better connection to the US, EU, Apac and the rest of the world.

The location is designed with safety and efficacy at its core and is equipped with various trailer docks and built -in building pits designed for safer handling. The new facility also enables a more streamlined and efficient process for preparing cargo. Additional capacity will significantly increase the throughput, which strengthens the company’s ability to meet the increasing demand for customers about important international jobs.

Steve Johnson, managing director, British air operations at FedEx said: “This new cargo facility builds on the momentum of our recent expansion in Manchester and demonstrates our continuous commitment to strengthen our operations in the UK. Together, these commitments create a more resilient and covenant Fedex -network, which enables us to grow the increasing flow of the Eastern Midlands, And to support international market.

FedEx creates to 220 countries and areas, connecting more than 2.5 million shippers with 200 million customers worldwide, and delivers 17 million packages worldwide every day. FedEx has been working in the UK since 1984 and offers a series of transport services for businesses trading internationally and domestically. The company operates three Air Hubs across the UK and still invests in new infrastructure to improve speed, safety and efficiency for its customers.
