Flower feed at Mia is in full bloom before Valentine’s Day

Flowers are still the largest imported product of Mia by weight, which constitutes 359,396 tonnes annually to $ 1.65 billion. Mia benefits from having the country’s most extensive air route network with Colombia and Ecuador, the two top flower producing countries in the region that make up about 86% of all flowers imported to the US by air.

Twelve Cargo Airlines provides cargo manufacturing service from Colombia, and nine airlines have Ecuador Freight Service. In addition, four airlines operate passenger flights with stomach freight from Colombia, while two passenger aircraft carry abdominal cargo from Ecuador.

“Mia is proud to be America’s biggest gate for fresh flowers, with over 1,500 tonnes expected to show up daily for Valentine’s Day, which would be a 3% increase over last year. Thanks to our strong partnership with the world’s leading cargo aircraft for the transport of flowers and federal support from US Customs and Border Protection, millions of blossoms will reach their destinations across the country in time for the holidays, ”says Ralph Cutié, director and CEO of Mia.
