Phoenix – If the Dodgers will win 13 games in October, they will probably have to dominate the manual they ran on Wednesday night.
The initial pitches came out of Bullpen. Another late collapse did not harm his psyche. The offense delivered timely hits when necessary. And the team shook a 5-4 victory over Arizona Diamondbacks.
The story of the night, in an unexpected turnaround, but totally justified by the plot at the end of the season, was Roki Sasaki and Clayton Kershaw launching free -relieved entrances to a besieged Dodgers Bullpen.
The theme, however, was improvisation with the list and resilience in the shelter, moving the team within a victory of another championship of the National Division of the West Division.
“I know the word resilience is expelled a lot, but it was a resilient victory and a resilient group,” said manager Dave Roberts. “We fought with our tails to the end. It didn’t look quite like different points in the game. But Arizona also fought. So it was a ball game … really good things.”
The game was not resolved until the 11th round, when Tommy Edman gave Dodgers an advantage with a single from RBI and Justin Wrebleski closed a rare defense without stress.
However, it would never have arrived there, without the contributions that Sasaki and Kershaw proved from Bullpen early in the evening.
After all the struggles of the traditional dodgers appeazers lately, it was the initial two throws that helped save the day.
Activated from the injured list shortly before the game, and making his first appearance on major stories since he suffered a shoulder injury in early May, Sasaki showed extremely promising signs with a goalless structure at the end of the seventh-promising 3-1 leader.
Sasaki’s fast ball had an average of 98-99 MPH, was accurately located in the corners of the attack zone and even induced some of the main spinning and hitting, things he never did consistently when posting an era of eight matches at the beginning of his great season of big leagues.
He combined him with a divide that was also commanded much better than anywhere in his initial MLB passage, when a lack of speed and inability to attack the attack zone made their registered throw was an ineffective weapon.
Sasaki needed only 13 throws to retire the side in order, punctuating his tour with a pair of four and more sensitive strikeouts. As he returned to the shelter, he looked at his teammates with a stoic look. Almost all of them, including Shohei Ohtani, applauded in approval.
“Hundred, with an unpleasant division, Ok Roki,” joked Snell later. “I think everyone will be so excited about him. And if he can do that, that’s a great help to us. Big impulse.”
As always, disaster eventually attacked in the eighth, even after the Dodgers (89-69) increased their 4-1 advantage in the Double RBI of Hernández in the top half of the shift.
Bullpen’s only robustness of the season Alex Vesia had problems giving up a single Ketel Mars, a walk to Geraldo Perdomo, and a double RBI for Corroll Corbin, all out.

It was the second leadership of three races that the Dodgers Bullpen wasted so many nights.
It was the most recent example of its unrivatible help body imploding, even with ample pillow at the end of the game.
So, to calm the waters, Roberts made another throwing move ready for use with the score still tied 4-4 at the end of the ninth.
In his first a relief appearance since the infamous fifth game of the 2019 NL Division series, Kershaw came from Bullpen and got the game for extras.
“It’s an adrenaline, for sure,” said Kershaw, who retired the three scouts he faced with the help of Edman’s dive capture in the center. “I think relief is just a completely different animal. You kind of need to find out how to keep your heartbeat and continue. But it’s a lot of fun, and it’s fun to succeed. So lucky to go through this shift.”
Kershaw offered to relieve herself on Tuesday night, effectively replacing her session among the Bullpen between what will start in the regular season of her latest career on Sunday in Seattle.
In October, however, its best setting on the list can reach a full -time (and perhaps high leverage) role, thanks to the abundance of Dodgers’ initial options and the reliable depth of the end of the game.
“I think you are now betting on people,” said Roberts. “For me, I trust Clayton.”
In the extras, the rest of Bullpen finally sustained. Blake Trainen inherited a two -way down jam on the 10th, but led James McCann to fly to the right field. Wrobleski (another pitcher who started this season as a starter) received a rescue situation on the 11th, after Edman chose a race with his third success of the night and retired the team in order.
“This was like a playoff game,” said Roberts.
And as soon as the actual post -season begins, it is the type of performance that Dodgers will have to replicate repeatedly.
Your traditional Bullpen, after all, remains a mess. The need for alternatives like Sasaki, Kershaw and Emmet Sheehan (another initial pitcher who will probably release in the playoffs) has become immense.
This made a trial race Wednesday about how this year’s team will need to win the games in October. He provided a sense of belief that, despite all the recent help problems, they can still gather ways to set up a World Series defense.
“We are kind of at the point that at the point of the season, we are just doing whatever it takes to win ball games,” said Edman. “I think it’s great on our team, we have a lot of guys who are not egos and just do what it takes.”
